How to adjust the Home screen opacity using the gradient slider

The Home screen opacity setting allows you to control how dark or light the overlay appears on your event's Home page background image. By adjusting the opacity percentage using the gradient slider in the Home Menu's Settings tab, you can ensure text remains readable while still showcasing your background image effectively.

When to use

  • When setting up a new event's Home page
  • When your background image makes text difficult to read
  • When you want to highlight more of your background image
  • When you need to improve contrast for accessibility

How to do it

Log in to your Cadence Admin account.
    Navigate to your event dashboard.
Click on "Home" in the left sidebar menu.
Select the "Settings" tab at the top of the page.
Locate the "Gradient Slider Adjust Home Screen Opacity" checkbox.
Check the box to enable the opacity adjustment feature.
This setting only affects the opacity of the web home screen, not the mobile app version.
Use the slider below the checkbox to adjust the opacity percentage.
  • Move right to increase opacity (darker overlay)
  • Move left to decrease opacity (lighter overlay)
Observe the default setting is 15% opacity.
Higher opacity values (40-75%) work best for light-colored or busy background images to ensure text remains readable.
Click "Save" at the bottom of the page to apply your changes.
Setting opacity to 0% will display an unaltered home screen image but may affect the legibility of text and other elements.

Troubleshooting

If text elements on your Home page become difficult to read after adjusting opacity, try increasing the opacity percentage or consider using a different background image with better contrast.
