Understand the Purpose and Benefits of the Onboarding Feature
The Onboarding feature in Cadence allows you to configure what information attendees will be prompted to provide when they first access your event. This central hub lets you enable event-level custom fields and determine which specific profile information attendees must complete before accessing your event content.
When to use
When setting up a new event and configuring the attendee onboarding experience
When you want to collect specific information from attendees as they join your event
When you need to customize which profile fields are required during onboarding
When enabling event-specific custom fields for attendee profiles
Before you start
You must have System Administrator or Event Manager permissions to modify onboarding settings.
How to do it
Log in to your Cadence Admin account.
Navigate to your event dashboard.
Select "Onboarding" from the left sidebar menu.
Review the available tabs at the top of the page:
Fields: Configure which custom fields appear during onboarding
Settings: Enable/disable features like Topics and Terms & Conditions
Welcome: Create a welcome message for attendees
Terms & Conditions: Add legal agreements that must be accepted
Video: Include an introductory video in the onboarding process
Click on the "Fields" tab to configure which profile information attendees must complete.
Enable event-level custom fields by checking the box if needed.
Select whether to display all fields or only specific fields during onboarding.
Navigate to the "Settings" tab to enable additional features like Topics for networking.
Configure the "Welcome" tab to create a personalized greeting for attendees.
Add an optional video introduction in the "Video" tab to create a more engaging experience.
Test your configuration by using the "Reset Onboarding" feature for a test account.
Monitor completion rates to ensure your onboarding process is effective.
Keep your onboarding process concise by only collecting essential information. Each additional field decreases the likelihood of completion.
Troubleshooting
If attendees report they cannot complete the onboarding process:
Verify that all required custom fields are properly configured
Check that the onboarding flow is enabled in the Settings tab
Ensure custom fields don't contain validation errors that prevent completion
