Test Notification Delivery After Configuration

The Notifications Settings page in Cadence allows you to configure how attendees receive automated alerts for your event. After setting up Schedule Reminders, Live Feed notifications, or Messaging Channel alerts, it's important to verify they're working correctly before your event goes live. This guide walks you through testing notification delivery to ensure your communication strategy works as intended.

When to use

  • After configuring notification settings for the first time
  • When troubleshooting reported notification delivery issues
  • Before an event goes live to verify all notifications are working properly
  • After making changes to existing notification settings

Before you start

You must have Admin or Event Manager permissions to test notifications. Also, ensure you have at least one test user with the mobile app installed who can receive notifications.

How to do it

Configure your notification settings in the Notifications menu.
Save your settings by clicking the "Save" button at the bottom of the page.
Create a test notification by clicking the "+" button in the Notifications list view.
Enter test content in the Notification Header and Body fields.
Include the word "TEST" in your notification to clearly identify it as a test message.
Select "Send as Push" if testing push notifications, "Send as Email" if testing email notifications, or both.
Choose "Specified" under the Visibility section.
Add your test user to the "Assigned To" field.
You can include yourself as a test recipient to verify delivery.
Click "Send" to deliver the test notification immediately.
Verify receipt on the test user's device or email inbox.
Push notifications require that users have allowed notifications for the Cadence app on their device.
Check the notification status in the Notifications list to confirm it shows as "Delivered."
Review delivery statistics by clicking on the notification in the list to see open rates and delivery status.

Troubleshooting

If test notifications aren't being received:
  • Verify the test user has the latest version of the Cadence mobile app (v2.7.404 for Android or v2.7.393 for iOS)
  • Confirm the user has enabled push notifications for the Cadence app in their device settings
  • Check that the user's email address is correct and that emails aren't being filtered to spam folders
  • Ensure the notification was properly saved and shows "Delivered" status in the admin interface
