How to address permission-related issues with onboarding configuration
How to Address Permission-Related Issues with Onboarding Configuration
The Onboarding › Fields section in Cadence allows administrators to configure what information attendees must provide when first accessing an event. Permission-related issues can prevent proper configuration or cause errors when attendees try to complete the onboarding process. This guide will help you identify and resolve common permission problems.
Before you start
You must have System Administrator or Event Manager permissions to troubleshoot and modify onboarding field settings.
How to do it
Verify your user permissions in the system.
Log in to your Cadence Admin account.
Navigate to your event dashboard.
Select "Onboarding" from the left sidebar menu.
Click on the "Fields" tab at the top of the page.
Check if you can access all configuration options on the page.
If you see "Permission denied" errors or cannot access certain settings, your account may lack the necessary permissions.
Verify that the "Enable Event-Level Custom Fields" checkbox is accessible.
Click the "here" link to check if you can access the custom fields configuration page.
If the link returns a 404 error, navigate directly to People > Custom Fields in the left sidebar instead.
Return to the Onboarding › Fields page.
Attempt to save any configuration changes you've made.
If you receive "Permission denied" errors when saving, contact your System Administrator for assistance.
Test the onboarding flow by resetting it for a test user:
Go to Event Setup > Onboarding > Reset Onboarding
Search for a test user account
Click "Reset Onboarding" next to their name
Log in as the test user to verify the onboarding process works correctly.
Troubleshooting
If you cannot access the Onboarding menu at all, verify your role has the correct permissions assigned.
If the "here" link for editing custom fields returns a 404 error, navigate directly to People > Custom Fields in the left sidebar.
If attendees report permission errors during onboarding, check that the onboarding flow is properly enabled in the Settings tab.
For persistent permission issues, contact your System Administrator or Cadence Support.
