How to use menu analytics to understand attendee navigation patterns
The Menu section in Cadence provides analytics that help you understand how attendees navigate through your event. By analyzing these navigation patterns, you can optimize your menu structure, identify popular content, and improve the overall user experience based on actual usage data rather than assumptions.
When to use
When evaluating the effectiveness of your menu structure
When identifying which content is most accessed by attendees
When planning improvements to your event navigation
When reporting on attendee engagement with specific sections
You must have Admin or Event Manager permissions to access menu analytics.
How to do it
Log in to your Cadence Admin account.
Navigate to your event dashboard.
Click on "Event Setup" in the left sidebar menu.
Select "Menu" from the submenu that appears.
Click the "Analytics" tab at the top of the Menu page.
The Analytics tab only appears after your event has been active and received attendee traffic.
Review the "Page Views by Menu Item" chart showing which menu items receive the most traffic.
Examine the "Navigation Paths" visualization to see how attendees move between different sections.
Look for unexpected navigation patterns that might indicate confusion or inefficient menu organization.
Filter the data by date range using the calendar selector at the top of the page.
Compare usage patterns between different attendee types by selecting the "Group by Attendee Type" option.
Identify underutilized menu items that might need better placement or promotion.
Low usage doesn't always mean content isn't valuable—consider whether the item might be difficult to find.
Check the "Average Time Spent" metric to see which sections engage attendees the longest.
Export the analytics report by clicking the "Export" button in the upper right corner.
Select your preferred format (CSV, Excel, or PDF).
Use these insights to make data-driven decisions about menu reorganization.
Implement changes to your menu structure based on the analytics.
Make one change at a time and monitor its impact before making additional changes.
Monitor analytics after changes to measure improvement in navigation patterns.
Troubleshooting
If analytics data appears incomplete or missing, verify that your event has been active for at least 24 hours and has received attendee traffic.
