How to allow attendees to set their visibility preferences during onboarding

Allow Attendees to Set Their Visibility Preferences During Onboarding

The Onboarding Settings section in Cadence lets you give attendees control over their profile visibility when they first access your event. By enabling this option, attendees can choose whether their profile is visible to other participants or hidden during the onboarding process, creating a more comfortable experience for privacy-conscious attendees.

When to use

  • When hosting events where some attendees may require privacy
  • When balancing networking opportunities with privacy concerns
  • When giving attendees more control over their event experience
  • When managing events with sensitive participants

Before you start

You must first enable the "Allow attendees to become hidden" option in the People → Attendees → Settings section before configuring this onboarding option.

How to do it

Log in to your Cadence Admin account.
    Navigate to your event dashboard.
Select "Onboarding" from the left sidebar menu.
Click the "Settings" tab at the top of the page.
Locate the "Allow Attendees to set their visibility to private" checkbox.
Check the box to enable this option.
If this option appears grayed out, you need to first enable the corresponding setting in People → Attendees → Settings.
Click "Save" at the bottom of the page to apply your changes.
Verify that the setting has been saved by refreshing the page and confirming the checkbox remains selected.

Troubleshooting

If attendees report they cannot find the option to set their visibility during onboarding:
  • Confirm both the Onboarding setting and the People → Attendees → Settings option are enabled
  • Verify the attendee is completing the full onboarding process where this option is presented
  • Check that the attendee has the latest version of the Cadence mobile app (v2.7.404 for Android or v2.7.393 for iOS) if they're using the mobile platform
