How to create custom registration workflows based on attendee groups

Create Custom Registration Workflows Based on Attendee Groups

The Registration Form feature in Cadence allows you to create tailored registration experiences for different attendee segments. Through the Registration Menu › Form section, you can configure conditional questions and group assignments that create personalized registration paths based on attendee responses, ensuring each participant provides only the information relevant to their role or needs.

When to use

  • When different attendee types need to provide different information
  • When you want to assign attendees to specific groups based on their responses
  • When creating role-specific registration paths
  • When collecting specialized information from certain attendee segments

Before you start

You must have System Administrator or Event Manager permissions to configure custom registration workflows.

How to do it

Log in to your Cadence Admin account.
    Navigate to your event dashboard.
Select "Registration" from the left sidebar menu.
Click on the "Form" tab at the top of the page.
Ensure "Enable Registration Form" is toggled on.
Disabling this setting will remove the registration form from your event's registration process.
Create a primary segmentation question by clicking "Add Question."
This question should clearly separate attendees into distinct groups (e.g., "What is your role?" or "Which track are you attending?").
Select "Multiple Choice" or "Dropdown" as the question type.
Enter the question text and add response options that correspond to your attendee segments.
Check "Required" to ensure all registrants answer this question.
Enable "Group Assignment" for this question by checking the box.
This allows you to automatically assign attendees to groups based on their responses.
Map each answer option to a corresponding group in your event.
If the groups don't exist yet, create them first in People › Groups before returning to this step.
Click "Save" to add this segmentation question to your form.
Add follow-up questions by clicking "Add Question" again.
Create a question that should only appear for specific attendee segments.
Configure the question settings (type, required status, etc.).
Expand the "Conditional Logic" section for this question.
Select "Show this question if" and choose your segmentation question.
Set the condition to show this question only for specific answer choices.
You can create multiple conditions for complex logic using AND/OR operators.
Repeat steps 13-18 for each segment-specific question you need to add.
Preview your form by clicking "Preview Form" to test the conditional logic.
Adjust the question order using the drag handles if needed.
Click "Save" at the bottom of the page to apply all your changes.

Troubleshooting

If conditional questions aren't displaying properly during testing:
  • Verify that your segmentation question is properly configured with Group Assignment
  • Check that conditional logic references the correct question and answer options
  • Ensure all groups referenced in your form exist in the People › Groups section
